The drive into the Balephi Khola river will give you stunning views of Everest on a clear day. The Balephi Khola is one of the smaller tributaries of the Sun Kosi and is a lovely tight boulder strewn river with crystal clear water. We will paddle this lovely jewel of a river down into the Sun Kosi.  We will set up camp on the banks of the Sun Kosi River.

The Lower Bhote Kosi flows down from Tibet and is a lovely section of whitewater to warm up and get used to paddling in Nepal. Fun class 2- 3+ rapids with pretty scenery.

The Sun Kosi  has been described as one of the best white water trips in the world. Big volume rapids, beautiful scenery, warm water and excellent beaches for camping the river travels from northern part of Nepal and travels all the way east to the terai, flat lands of Nepal. All the major rivers from the Himalayas drain into the Sun Kosi and the river increases giving a feeling of power. You will travel through lush jungle, rice paddies and pass small villages. Monkeys, deer and many species of birds inhabit the Sun Kosi river corridor.  Class 2- 4+ rapids over 7 days paddling 270 kms from the put in at Sukute Beach and take out at Chatra, this is truly a wonderful experience.  Camping along the way on river beaches, which are perfect for early morning yoga sessions and Whitewater training and assessment.

Lower Tamur River is an action packed day full of luscious whitewater and rapids such as Ashram,  Hell Hole and Bat below plus many more. An excellent full day of rapids and fun.

Itinenary

Day 01 : Arrive in Kathmandu, airport pick up and transfer to hotel. Overnight in hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02 : Explore Kathmandu and get prepared for the trip

Day 03 : Drive in private bus approximately 3 hrs to the put in of the Lower Bhote Kosi River. Paddle the Lower Bhote Kosi River class 2-3. Camp on the riverbank or stay in resort.

Day 04 : Drive in private bus approximately 1 hr to the put in of the Balephi Khola. Paddle the Balephi Khola and camp at the put in of the Sun Kosi River expedition.

Day 05 – 12 : Paddle the Sun Kosi River. Fun rapids each day, camp on the riverbank. Whitewater Rafting and WRT Training and assessment will be conducted while on the river journey. There will be the opportunity to do some kayak clinics as well for those that want to try kayaking. On the last day take out at Chatra and drive up to the put in of the Lower Tamur River. Paddle down the Tamur a little ways. Camp near the put in.

Day 13 : Paddle a full day on the Tamur River. Over 30 rapids of fun class 3 and 4 and a couple of class 5 makes this a fantastic day of whitewater.Camp at the confluence of the Sun Kosi and Tamur Rivers.

Day 14 : Paddle down the Sun Kosi to the take out at Chatra and have a traditional Nepalese Dhal Bhat lunch. Drive overnight in private bus approximately 16hrs back to Kathmandu. There is the option to fly 35 minutes back to Kathmandu.

Day 15 : Arrive back in Kathmandu in the morning. Shopping and relax in town. Stay in overnight in hotel.
